The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch is investigating an incident involving a Boeing 747-200 Special Freighter operated by Atlas Air that occurred during approach to London Stansted airport late last year. According to the US National Transportation Safety Board advisory note, during the 12 December incident the 747 (N523MC) "descended well below approach path at about 6nm [11km] from Runway 05". Atlas Air says that "the crew took immediate corrective action and the flight landed safely" .
