Microtecnica, part of Hamilton Sundstrand, has won a contract from Aermacchi to design and build the "iron bird" test rig for the advanced twin-engine M346 trainer aircraft now in development.
The test rig will integrate the major aircraft systems such as flight controls, hydraulic power generation and landing gear, and include a flight mechanics computer to allow ground-based simulations of a wide range of operational modes.
