Israel plans to merge Elta, the electronic warfare (EW) and radar subsidiary of state-owned Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), with privately held Koor group companies Elisra Electronic Systems, Tadiran Systems and Tadiran Spectralink. The Ministry of Defence approved the move on 25 July, with the boards of IAI and Koor assenting two days later.

Elisra and Tadiran develop EW systems. The latter is also a command and control specialist. Tadiran Spectralink specialises in datalinks. Sources at Koor and IAI admit the move is partly a response to a wave of consolidation centred on privately owned Elbit Systems, which is to merge with defence optics specialist Elop.
