Japan Airlines (JAL) has ordered three Boeing 777-200ERs in a deal valued at around $525 million, it was announced yesterday. Deliveries are scheduled for 2003-2006.

The order marks the initial replacements for the fleet of 15 DC-10s currently operated by the JAL group. Boeing said at the show yesterday that additional replacement orders, including commitments for 767-300ERs, are expected at a future date.

"Japan Airlines" continued selection of the 777-200ER for long-range operations is a testament to their commitment to excellence," says Larry Dickenson, senior vice-president, sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

"The 777 has established a new standard for passenger comfort while providing top-level service and economics."
