The US Federal Aviation Administration has re-instated its approval for Japan Airlines' engineering department to maintain and service US-registered aircraft. FAA repair-station approval was given after new inspections of JAL's maintenance centre. The Japanese carrier had been accused of subcontracting work out to unauthorised companies, re-using spare parts and inadequate training. JAL claimed a "misunderstanding of regulations".
