JAT is hoping to re-start DC-10-30 services between Yugoslavia and the USA for the first time since 1992. That year the US banned its flights as part of economic sanctions against the country because of human rights abuses during the Bosnian War. The USA lifted sanctions in January, and the Yugoslav flag carrier subsequently applied to resume scheduled services between Belgrade and New York on 14 May.
