JetBlue Airways has become the third carrier seeking a weekly frequency for Havana service that Delta Air Lines is giving up later this year.
The New York-based carrier has called on the US Department of Transportation to conduct a frequency allocation proceeding to decide which airline gets the right to add a weekly flight to Havana.
JetBlue is proposing an additional weekly flight between Fort Lauderdale and Havana. American Airlines had previously filed for a flight between Miami and Havana, and Southwest is requesting to use the frequency for a flight between Tampa and Havana.
Delta currently uses the frequency for Saturday service between Havana and New York John F Kennedy, but plans to end service on the route on 1 September.
JetBlue proposes to begin its additional flight on 10 November with Airbus A320 aircraft.
