JetBlue Airways' CFO Ed Barnes says the carrier has committed financing in place for this year's aircraft deliveries. In 2011, JetBlue will take nine aircraft from Airbus and Embraer.
The carrier is scheduled to take delivery of three Airbus A320s and one Embraer 190 aircraft during this quarter. In the second quarter, two Embraer 190s will join the fleet while another Embraer 190 will arrive in the third quarter. JetBlue will take delivery of one A320 and one Embraer 190 each in the final quarter of 2011.
The carrier will return one Embraer 190 during the second quarter of this year. At 31 december 2010, JetBlue's 160-aircraft fleet comprised 115 A320s and 45 Embraer 190s.
JetBlue ended the year 2010 with approximately $1 billion unrestricted cash and short term investments and Barnes predicts the carrier will end 2011 with cash levels at 25% of total revenues.
In the fourth quarter of 2010, JetBlue repaid $55 million of scheduled debt. Scheduled debt obligations total $185 million in 2011, according to Barnes, with a $40 million repayment due in the first quarter.
