New York-based airline JetBlue has placed a further order worth more than $435 million with International Aero Engines (IAE) for powerplants on 30 'firm' A320 aircraft, plus a further five options and 13 purchase rights on aircraft from the Airbus A320 family.

This takes JetBlue's total order of V2500-powered aircraft to 63 firm and 60 options. With the exercise of options, the total value of the order could grow to $700m.

To be equipped with V2527-A5 engines rated at 27,000lb (120kN) of thrust, the first aircraft will be delivered in February 2004 and with this order IAE's 2001 overall market share increases to 86%.

This order comes at a time of significant expansion for JetBlue. It recently announced plans to establish a second focus location at Los Angeles' Long Beach Airport in California.
