Air/ground telephony provider Jetphone is set to pick up at least two airline customers left without a supplier by the market exit of Cable and Wireless Flightlink (C&W), reports Reed Aerospace news and data service Air Transport Intelligence (ATI).

The electronic news service, formally launched yesterday, says Crossair is already in advanced negotiations with Jetphone, and Sabena is likely to follow.

Narrow

C&W's corporate parent decided to pull out of the aeronautical market a month ago, leaving the narrow Terrestrial Flight Telecommunications System (TFTS) niche to Shannon-based Jetphone.

ATI quotes senior Jetphone managers as praising C&W's actions in amicably handing over its business relationships with its prospective airline customers to its rival. Jetphone is, temporarily at least, the only provider of TFTS services.
