A jury has decided against Honeywell in a patent-infringement lawsuit brought against terrain awareness warning system (TAWS) manufacturer Sandel Avionics. An earlier lawsuit alleging infringement of five patents relating to Honeywell's enhanced ground-proximity warning system was thrown out by the judge in November 2003. Sandel says sales of its Class A and B TAWS were hurt by the lawsuits, but are now "soaring" as the US deadline for installation approaches.
