Sources within the Chilean embassy in Moscow have confirmed the country is considering acquiring Kamov Ka-27 utility and Ka-31 naval helicopters to equip its ships and shore bases.

Chile is also discussing the possible acquisition of Ka-226 or Ka-32A fire-fighting helicopters, with co-production to be negotiated as part of an offset agreement for the military aircraft. Chile is believed to have been offered the production of cabin sections for the helicopters. Meanwhile, Russia's Rosoboronexport state armaments agency has delivered nine Kamov Ka-31 helicopters to the Indian navy. The aircraft is equipped with a 360° surveillance radar that can track up to 20 targets to a range of 250km (135nm).
