Reports from Russia suggest that the Kamov Ka-60 multi-role helicopter will begin flight tests again in the near future. Sources say the flight test programme was halted to allow for integration of new RD-600V engines, produced by Rybinsk Motors.

A lack of funding for detailed research and development work is blamed for the development programme slipping off schedule and Kamov sources point to late delivery of components, equipment and instruments as causing additional delays.

Kamov says the Ka-60 is due to undergo a more rigorous flight test schedule later this year. The aircraft is intended for combat transport operations and features a four-blade main rotor, which is due to be upgraded to a five-blade system and a maximum take-off weight of 6,500kg.
