Two A380s operating the first proving flights to the USA touched down within minutes of each other on 19 March in New York and Los Angeles. MSN007 arrived at New York Kennedy from Frankfurt with 498 people on board at 12:10, as part of a joint Airbus/Lufthansa 12-day route-proving trial.
Around 20min later, MSN001 landed at Los Angeles International airport for airport compatibility and functional checks in co-operation with the airport operator and Qantas. On board MSN001 - which unlike MSN007 is not equipped with a full passenger cabin - was an Airbus test crew.
