Kenya Airways has named Sebastian Mikosz as its new chief executive to replace Mbuvi Ngunze.
The African carrier says that following a six-month search for a successor to Ngunze, the board has "unanimously" agreed to appoint Mikosz, who was chief executive at Polish flag carrier LOT for two years before he stepped down in August 2015.
His new employer notes that Mikosz has "over 20 years of professional experience in executive management both in the private and public sector", spanning his time as chief executive of Polish online travel agency eSky and his stints with Deloitte and with government agency Invest in Poland.
Nairobi-based Kenya Airways says Ngunze will remain with the SkyTeam member in an advisory role until June while it works to complete its "capital optimisation" programme. It expects to do so by July "at the latest".
