The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the Brazilian general aviation association ABAG have been forced to shelve their jointly organised annual Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE) due to “a combination of factors”, they say. LABACE was to be held from 10-12 August at São Paulo, Brazil. New dates have yet to be announced.
NBAA president and chief executive Ed Bolen says: “Unfortunately, several factors beyond our control make it impossible for us to host such a show this August. As a result, we see no alternative other than to defer this year’s event.” Bolen says a key factor in the decision was the loss of the Varig VEM ramp for the event.
Early last month, Brazilian aviation authorities informed NBAA and ABAG that the facility would be unavailable due to its proximity to an “accelerated construction project” at Congonhas airport.
