June is a key month in the BAE Systems Aircraft Services Group/West Air Sweden ATP freight conversion programme. With three aircraft (one pictured) flying with a complete reconfiguration of the interior into an E-class cargo compartment, this month a new large freight door is scheduled for fitting. The jointly-funded programme between BAE Systems Aircraft Services Group and West Air saw 15 modifications carried out to the aircraft at the West Air Lidkoping base. The aircraft were upgraded with the Universal Avionics UNS-1K flight management system. The programme for the equipping of the aircraft with a big freight door is scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Based on the existing BAE 748 freight door, it is rearward sliding and has an aperture height of 1.72m (67.75in) and an aperture width of 2.63m (103.5in).
