Dedicated 787 lessor LCAL will equip up to 13 of its 21 aircraft on order with the General Electric GEnx-1B engine.

The announcement today by GE clarifies the engine choice for most of the Dubai-based lessor’s 787 orders.

Boeing’s orders and deliveries web site shows that LCAL has purchased Rolls-Royce engines for six 787 aircraft.

That leaves the engine choice for at least two LCAL orders officially unaccounted for, but likely to be Rolls’ Trent 900.

“LCAL is delighted to be able to offer its Boeing B787 customers the GEnx engine,” says Steve Clarke President of LCAL.

“This aircraft / engine combination produces tremendous fuel savings in comparison with current aircraft and fully demonstrates LCAL's commitment to only being involved with technology that is driving down the carbon footprint of air transport.”
