The first of two Cathay Pacific Airways Learjet 45As was delivered to BAE Systems Australia in Adelaide, South Australia, on 24 August. A second aircraft will join the fleet late next year and other orders could follow. The two aircraft will be used for first officer and command upgrade training using BAE Systems instructors. Cathay Pacific hopes to interest other carriers' training pilots at the Adelaide facility in using spare capacity. These include China Airlines, Dragonair, Qantas, Shanghai Airlines and South African Airways. Cathay also plans to make the aircraft available for aeromedical and possibly ad hoc charter operations from its Adelaide base.
