May I request that we leave the debate on the relative merits of Airbus A340s over Boeing 777s to the manufacturers' marketing campaigns, as a debate on safety and economics has turned into a stream of correspondence from them. The relative merits of the two designs relate to many factors such as route structure, passenger loadings, supplier arrangements and price.
