Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has begun overhauling Embraer 170/190 landing gears at its US subsidiary Hawker Pacific Aerospace, and it says it will introduce the capability at its German facilities over the coming years.
The Los Angeles-based landing gear MRO specialist built up overhaul capability for the regional jet family at the end of 2012 in partnership with equipment manufacturer Liebherr Aerospace.
This included installing a test stand for the aircraft's nose landing gear.
Hawker Pacific has purchased a complete E-190 landing gear shipset and wants to begin full exchange and repair services over the next few months with own stock of rotable equipment.
More landing gear shipsets are to be acquired throughout this year.
The company will serve clients in North and South America, while Europe's E-170/190 fleet will be serviced by LHT's local facilities.
The MRO group plans to build up respective overhaul capability at its landing gear shop in Hamburg "in the next few years".
