Malaysia’s Weststar General Aviation (WGA) has signed agreements to acquire a total of four helicopters from AgustaWestland and Sikorsky, in deals valued at MYR150 million ($40.8 million).
The aviation charter services provider says it will acquire three helicopters from AgustaWestland: an AW109, AW119Kx, and an AW169. It will also purchase a VIP-configured S-76D from Sikorsky.
With the latest order, the number of helicopters operated under the Weststar Group banner, the parent company of WGA, will increase to 54, the majority utilised for offshore transportation services.
“We are seeing a new demand trend taking shape at the top of the business aviation supply chain. The helicopter charter services market is growing, both in applications and the demand for certain types of helicopters,” adds Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, Weststar Group’s managing director.
