Lion Group's Angkasa Aviation Academy, formerly known as Wings Flying School, has opened a second campus at Tjilik Riwut airport next to the city of Palangkaraya on Kalimantan island.
The Angkasa Aviation Academy has its main campus at Penggung airport in Cirebon, northwest Java. The trainees attending the flying school will do some of their training at Cirebon and the remaining at Palangkaraya.
The airline group says the academy expects to have around 150-160 graduates in 2014, up from its 2013 forecast of 60-70 graduates.
Its Palangkaraya facility has a good location for learning cross country flying, while its centre at Cirebon is good for training on flying in controlled airspace.
The academy has 14 Cessna 172 aircraft, of which seven are stationed at Cirebon and the rest at Palangkaraya. The academy will add another four aircraft at its second campus in October.
