Icelandair's leasing arm has extended its co-operation with China's Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company (GAMECO).
Loftleidir Icelandic, a charter subsidiary of Icelandair Group, has been sending its Boeing 757s and 767s to GAMECO for heavy checks, landing-gear changes and aircraft painting since 2008.
Now the carrier has signed a general-terms agreement to continue the partnership over the next eight years.
Loftleidir says that the contract is worth $7-10 million.
For the current year, the airline plans to assign at least two heavy checks "and possibly other major tasks" to GAMECO, a joint venture between China Southern Airlines and Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa Aircraft Investment Company.
