Israeli electronics company El Op says a technology breakthrough will enable it to manufacture low- cost head-up displays (HUD) for civil aircraft, which will be priced at around $20,000. It plans to demonstrate the new line of HUDs next year. Although it does not specify what the technology is, it says the optics will be "small and light". It plans to package a civil HUD with the enhanced vision system developed by its parent, Elbit Systems.
