Lucas Industries has been selected to supply the cargo winch for the Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules. Lucas says that the contract is worth an initial $1 million, but the UK company expects the value to increase to around $20 million over the life of the programme. The winches will be manufactured, by Lucas Aerospace Cargo Systems in Brea, California. Meanwhile, Cargo Systems has won a contract from France's Soger- ma-Socea to design and manufacture Airbus A310 main- deck cargo systems. Sogerma-Socea, a subsidiary of Aerospatiale, is performing A310 passenger-to-freighter conversions for Bombardier, which is serving as prime contractor to the Canadian Department of National Defence.
