Lufthansa Group is to post an operating profit of €984 million ($1.22 billion) for the first nine months of this year, and about €1.1 billion for the full year.

The carrier has disclosed the figures ahead of publishing its results for the period in full on 29 October.

Lufthansa says the operating profit is 9.3% down on last year's level owing to fuel costs which, it says, could "not be fully compensated" in the "increasingly difficult" environment.

Revenues for the group over the nine-month period were up by 13.6% to €18.6 billion while net profit reached €551 million.
