Maintenance firm Lufthansa Technik is to open a new component support base later this year at Russia’s Moscow Domodedovo airport.
The new subsidiary, named Lufthansa Technik Vostok, will comprise a component pool and customer service base for component services.
Lufthansa Technik Vostok will be established in two phases. By the end of 2007 the customer service base and newly built stores facility will be in place. This will be joined by a comprehensive component pool, covering the key western aircraft types, by the end of 2008.
Up to 50 new jobs will be created by the new venture over the next three years.
Lufthansa Technik senior VP for component services Johannes Bussmann says: “Having Lufthansa Technik Vostok in Moscow will improve our customer proximity enormously and enable us to help them onsite in the shortest possible time.
“All materials and components held in the warehouse will already be duty paid and thus be available for use immediately. In this way we will speed up and facilitate materials procurement for our customers significantly.”
The new warehouse will stock over 1,500 part numbers, covering Airbus A310, A320, Boeing 737, 757 and 767 types.
