Luxair has ordered two Boeing 737-700s and taken two options on the type to replace older aircraft, as it reports a small passenger number increase for 2002. Association of European Airlines members announced an average 4.6% drop in passenger numbers for last year. Luxair carried 1.15 million passengers, about 1% more than 2001, 70% of which were on scheduled services. Luxair's 141-seat 737-700s will enter service in the first quarter of 2004 and replace 737-400s and -500s now in use.

Meanwhile Luxembourg airport, operated as a Luxair subsidiary, suffered a 6.8% drop in passengers in 2002.
