-SilkAir has taken delivery of its first International Aero Engines V2500-A5-powered Airbus A320. The regional division of Singapore Airlines is replacing its Boeing 737-300 fleet with four A320s and four A319s, and holds options on another 10 aircraft.

-ING Lease International Equipment Management has sold and delivered an ex-Pan American Airbus A300B4-200 to DHL International. The aircraft will be converted into a freighter by Daimler-Benz Aerospace Airbus and operated on the express parcels carrier's European network, serving the hub in Brussels, Belgium.

-Air New Zealand has added a new Boeing 747-400 on lease from International Lease Finance. The General Electric CF6-80CB1F-powered aircraft is leased for an initial term of 43 months, with several extension options.

-Fortis has arranged the sale of 10 ex-airline British Aerospace Jetstream 31s to Transportation Locators on behalf of current owner Subarban. The aircraft are to be converted for executive use and remarketed.

-Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services has placed two ex-Reno Air Boeing MD-83s on lease with Avianca. The first aircraft will be delivered this month and the second next January.

-CIT Group has sold two out-of-service Boeing 747-100s off lease to operator Trans World Airlines. CIT has also leased a Boeing 727-200 Advanced to Champion Airlines.

-SAir Group leasing division Flightlease has placed orders for three Avro RJ100s for delivery in July, September and October 1999. The aircraft will be operated by Sabena's regional division Delta Air Transport. ++ British Airways has begun retiring its 15 ageing Boeing 747-100s earlier this month, with the ferrying of an aircraft to its maintenance base in Cardiff, Wales, for decommissioning. Most of the aircraft are expected to be broken for spares.

-Britannia UK will add two Boeing 767-300ERs in January and two new 757-200s in February and April 1999.
