-Continental Airlines has placed a $75 million order with Rolls-Royce for RB211-535E4B engines to power five Boeing 757-200s. The 757s were ordered in 1997 and are due for delivery between December 1999 and June 2000.

-American International Airways, a division of Kitty Hawk, has taken delivery of an ex-Middle East Airlines 747-200F following conversion by Boeing's Wichita modification centre. The aircraft has entered service on a two-year contract operating between Europe and South Africa.

-Triton Aviation Services has acquired two ex-Garuda Pratt & Whitney JT9D-powered Boeing 747-200s from Japan Fleet Service, for conversion to cargo by the Bedek division of Israel Aircraft Industries.

-Malaysia Airlines has appointed Fortis Aviation to remarket three Boeing 747 combis, including one 12-year-old Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7R4-powered 747-300 and two nine-year old General Electic CF6-80C2 powered-400s.

-Malev has leased two ex-Hapag Lloyd Boeing 737-500s from Germany's defag.

-US regional Bighorn Airways has acquired four ex-Midway Commuter Dornier 228-200s from Fairchild Dornier.

-Israel's private regional airline Israir has arranged to lease two Boeing 737-700s to operate on charters to Europe.

-South African Airways has added an ex-Southern Air Transport 747-200F on a five year lease from Finova Capital.

-FedEx is adding 10 Shorts 360-300s on lease from Lynrise Air Lease.

-Hapag Lloyd has arranged to lease a new Boeing 737-800 from International Lease Finance for delivery in February 2000 on an initial five-year term.

-Fortis has arranged the sale of seven 28 to 29-year-old ex-Trans World Airlines Boeing 727-200s to Aeroturbine of Miami to use for spare parts.

-SAir Group's leasing division, Flightlease, has mandated Dublin-based IAMG to arrange the sale and lease back of seven Boeing MD-80s operated by Crossair.
