US low-cost carrier Vanguard Airlines has exercised purchase options on two of six Boeing 737-200Advs covered by a letter of intent signed with US Airways Leasing & Sales last November. Algeria's Khalifa Airways has signed a letter of intent with Sabena for the lease of the airline's two Airbus A340-200s, for delivery later this year. The airline currently uses Airbus A310s and A320s.

Air Transport Intelligence reports that Dutch airline Denim Air will replace its 14 Fokker 50s over the next two years with some of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q300s ordered recently by parent company Air Nostrum. The Spanish regional carrier ordered 29 Dash 8 Q300s and 15 Canadair Regional Jets in March (Flight International, 28 March -3 April). Denim will take the first of the replacements in November. Aero Continente has taken delivery of an ex-Transbrasil/Air New Zealand General Electric CF6-80-powered Boeing 767-200ER on lease from International Lease Finance.
