Air Foyle has acquired an ex-Ayaks Airlines Antonov An-124 freighter which had been impounded at Maastricht Airport since August 1998. The aircraft was purchased for $6 million, with Air Foyle also having to pay commission along with the aircraft's parking fees. Air Foyle says that the price reflects a substantial reduction in the aircraft's value due to an absence of technical records. The aircraft will be flown to Antonov's Kiev plant for overhaul. BA franchise carrier British Mediterranean Airways will take delivery of two International Aero Engines A321-200s in February and March 2002.
