Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has placed an order worth $200 million with Rolls-Royce for Trent 772B engines to power four Airbus A330-300s, due for delivery starting in August 2002. SAS placed its A330 order in April last year. It includes seven options which can be taken as either A330s or A340s. The new fleet will replace P&W PW4000-powered Boeing 767-300ERs. Virgin Atlantic has confirmed its December commitment for six Rolls-Royce Trent 900-powered Airbus A380s plus six options. Deliveries of the 550-seaters will begin in 2006. Montenegro Airlines is scheduled to take delivery of its long-awaited second Fokker 100 early this month. Cityjet, the Dublin-based regional airline owned by Air France, is leasing three additional BAe 146-200s from BAE Systems. One of the aircraft has been delivered. The second is to follow soon and the third by mid-year. Garuda Indonesia is to replace five of its Fokker F28s with six Boeing 737-400s. Thai Airways International is reported to have signed an agreement with Astral Astrakhan Airlines to lease two Boeing 737-400s to the Russian carrier and to take two recently overhauled Antonov An-24s from Astral for services in Thailand. Air France has signed a lease deal with International Lease Finance (ILFC) to acquire seven Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Five CFM International CFM56-powered A319s will be delivered on lease between now and 2003, while a single CFM56-powered A321 will arrive in March 2003. A General Electric GE90-powered Boeing 777-200ER will arrive in May next year. Finnair will acquire two Boeing 757s on lease from ILFC in March and April 2002 to replace one of Finnair's Boeing MD-11s. Oman Air has concluded a five year lease deal with ILFC for two Boeing737-700s and one -800 for delivery between December this year and May 2002. It also recently placed orders directly with Boeing for two 737-700s.
