BFGoodrich has acquired the Electro-Optical Sensor business of Corning OCA, which manufactures precision electro-optical instrumentation for the space and military markets, and has annual sales of $12 million. BFGoodrich already offers products that use the Earth and sun for satellite orientation, with the acquisition adding systems that allow for the use of stars. Ogden is selling its fixed-base operations (FBO) business to Consolidated Lamba Holdings for $27 million as it divests its aviation and entertainment assets to focus on energy. Ogden's Connecticut-based Flight Services Group and Transair FBO at Paris Le Bourget will become part of PrivatAir Holding, which also owns Swiss-based VIP charter operator PrivatAir. Consolidated and PrivatAir are affiliates of the Greek Latsis Group. Florida-based MRO specialist Aviation Sales has completed the sale of its Kratz-Wilde Machine and Apex Manufacturing businesses to Barnes Group. The transaction is part of a debt reduction plan which could see Aviation Sales sell other assets including its Dixie Bearings operation. Alcoa, the world's largest aluminium maker, has acquired the aluminium plate, sheet and soft-alloy extrusion making businesses of British Aluminium from Luxfer for £182 million ($130 million). Alcoa says the deal will improve its ability to offer European-manufactured products to aerospace customers. Online business jet charter specialist flightserv.com of Atlanta has acquired Florida-based call centre DM Marketing to provide back office services. Forgings and castings company Mettis has acquired High Duty Alloys, a supplier of forged components for the aerospace industry, for £42.5 million. The all-UK transaction will allow Mettis to provide a single manufacturing operation for high technology forged components. US structural components manufacturer Compass Aerospace is selling UK-based Trim Group.
