Thailand’s science ministry has released new images of the search zone for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, apparently showing a large number of scattered objects.
The sighting is some 2,750km from Perth, in western Australia, from where the search is being co-ordinated.
Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) states that the objects in the Indian Ocean were photographed on 24 March by the Thaichote earth-observation satellite.
It says they were seen covering an area of some 450km2. The agency has released images showing the unidentified debris at five specific locations.
But poor weather is continuing to hamper the search for the Boeing 777. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said that the deteriorating weather had forced a 24h suspension of search activity on 27 March.
