The Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Forces uses the T-5 as a primary trainer . The aircraft can also be used as a utility transport, with a further two seats.
The T-5 is a development of the Fuji KM-2 with a turboprop powerplant, updated avionics and a blister canopy to improve visibility. The aircraft first flew in 1988.
