EADS
EADS's Mako was one of the platforms considered to deliver the now nine-nation Eurotraining scheme, but the programme's remaining partners are believed to favour the introduction of a twin-engine subsonic platform, which is most likely to be Alenia Aermacchi's M-346. This development has delivered a second and likely fatal blow to the Mako high-energy advanced trainer concept, which was the subject of a memorandum of understanding with the United Arab Emirates several years ago. However, this pact failed to advance to a production deal and the UAE is now considering the M-346, BAE Systems Hawk 128 and Korea Aerospace Industries/Lockheed Martin T-50 to meet its advanced jet trainer requirement.
