Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has ordered from Lockheed Martin the parts required to assemble an additional nine F-2 fighters, bringing procurement to 45 shipsets.

Lockheed Martin says the latest contract, the fifth it has received, is worth more than $180 million. The US company supplies the aft fuselage, wing leading-edge flaps, stores management system, 80% of the port wingbox as well as some avionics components and associated support equipment. The F-2 is derived from the F-16.
