South Korea is set to issue by the end of the year a request for proposals (RFP) for eight additional Lockheed Martin P-3 Orions, to be supplied from the US Navy's surplus inventory. The navy operates eight P-3Cs bought from the manufacturer, but was forced to abandon plans to acquire an additional 16 aircraft due to budget constraints. RFP responses are expected from Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, offering upgrades of stored P-3As or Bs to the latest C standard.
