Air Berlin has set a deadline of 6 October for potential investors in its MRO business to make their offers.
The group, which notes that its Air Berlin Technik unit has a staff of around 850, indicates that parties interested in the maintenance operation are being given extra time to submit tenders because they "have to be clear about developments at the airline".
Investors had until 15 September to bid for Air Berlin, and the board is to discuss the received submissions on 25 September. "The state of the bidding process is then to be presented to the public," says Air Berlin.
Disclosure of the Air Berlin Technik deadline was made after a meeting of creditors' committees on 21 September. "The existing offers for Air Berlin or parts of the company were discussed intensively," says the Oneworld member, which adds that three individuals – plenipotentiary Frank Kebekus, administrator Lucas Flother and the airline's chief executive Thomas Winkelmann – were "commissioned to continue the negotiations with the bidders and pursue a conclusion".
