GMF AeroAsia's Batam facility launch date has been pushed back a year following an extended feasibility study.
The company tells FlightGlobal that construction has yet to start and the target is now for the MRO site to be operational by mid-2019.
"We are still reviewing the [Batam] facility's business plan, which includes its capabilities and future development," says a GMF spokeswoman.
The firm is also focusing its efforts on a planned initial public offering, targeted for October.
In February, GMF signed a memorandum of understanding with the Batam Industrial Development Authority to develop the city’s Hang Nadim International airport for MRO purposes.
The MRO arm of Garuda Indonesia said that it plans to build aircraft maintenance facilities, hangars, and other supporting infrastructure, such as a logistics warehouse to support its line maintenance work.
A new 25,000m2 hangar will be built “to capture the international aircraft maintenance market”.
Construction of the facility was expected to be completed by the second half of 2017 and be fully operational by the second half of 2018.
