South African Airways' budget subsidiary Mango has selected Lufthansa Technik to overhaul the CFM International CFM56 engines powering Boeing 737NGs.

LHT says the exclusive hour-based support agreement covers "at least" 19 shop visits at the MRO provider's facilities in Germany until 2022.

Mango has a fleet of 10 737-800s, says LHT, which has on an exclusive basis serviced the CFM56-7B engines powering SAA's 737NG fleet for more than 15 years.

LHT notes that it has long-term maintenance agreements in place with "all the major airlines" in South Africa: SAA, Comair, and Safair, as well as the flag carrier's MRO arm SAA Technical.
