ST Engineering Aerospace will take over the heavy maintenance of QantasLink’s Boeing 717 fleet from July.
The airline says the contract was awarded following a competitive tender process, in the lead-up to the expiry of Korr Aviation’s four-year contract in April.
The work has been conducted at QantasLink’s maintenance hangar in Canberra since 2015. At that time, Korr took over responsibility for the heavy checks on the jets from Cobham, which continues to operate the aircraft on Qantas’s behalf.
Qantas has indicated that the Canberra hangar will continue to be used for faily line maintenance work on the 717s and its turboprop fleet.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that QantasLink has 20 717s in operation, of which 18 are owned by Qantas.
