AN 86%-SCALE MODEL OF THE FUSELAGE of the Lockheed Martin Joint Advanced Strike Technology (JAST) demonstrator aircraft, constructed from glass-reinforced plastics and steel, is being used for hover testing at NASA Ames Research Center, California. A screened cover protects the Pratt & Whitney F100-220 main engine and Allison Engines shaft-driven lift fan from debris thrown up by their combined 75kN (17,000lb) thrust.
