At the NBAA's opening ceremony this morning, industry leaders called for the US president to go to Wichita.
President of the International Association of Machinists Tom Buffenbarger said he is working to get President Barack Obama to visit the Kansas business aviation hub to learn that "business aviation is vital to America's economic recovery."
Federal Aviation Administration administrator Randy Babbitt appealed to business aviation operators to set up closed-loop safety management systems, and individuals to maintain professional standards "even when no-one is watching."
Rich Karlgaard, Forbes magazine publisher, said bad times are not bad for everyone and historically, recessions have been great times for innovation.
