With the scent of freshly-laid carpet still in the halls, the 2008 NBAA Convention officially began with a ribbon snip by acting FAA administrator Bobby Sturgell, and the opening session was a civilized duel over the future of American politics.

James Carville and Mary Matalin gave their views on next month's presidential election from opposite viewpoints, though they've been married since 1993. Carville, an aviation enthusiast, is a top democratic strategist and Matalin is an advisor to Republican leaders. It was the pair's second speaking appearance at the NBAA Convention.
