EADS Sogerma (booth 5431) is breaking into the business jet market with a new concept for cockpit seats, on display at NBAA.
The EADS group subsidiary sees North and South America as prime markets for interest in the business jet market, says Gregory Flippes, director of sales and new business development for EADS Sogerma. It is exhibiting at the show for the first time.
The concept seats, made of electrical mechanism that allows the operator to customize the position of the seat, with adjustable height, recline and lateral movement settings. It has yet to secure a launch customer for the new seat, but it will be aimed at medium to large business jets, largely to be line-fit.
The French manufacturer provides electrically controlled cockpit seats for all types of Airbus aircraft. It provides cabin seating for several Airbus models in the commercial market, including the Solstys model on the Airbus A350. It recently announced that it would be offering the Equinox on the Boeing 787.
As aircraft manufacturers have started ratcheting up production for latest-generation aircraft, EADS Sogerma has moved out of the heaviest part of the design phase for new commercial aircraft types. Completing the design of the Airbus A350 seats has allowed the manufacture to focus on designing a new product for the business jet market, says Daniel Furon, vice-president aerostructure strategy and business development.
