Alaska Airlines will discontinue its daily Los Angeles-Havana flight on 22 January, roughly one year after the carrier launched the route.
The news makes Alaska the latest in a string of carriers to have announced cuts to flights to Havana amid less-than-predicted demand.
Alaska says about 80% of passengers who travel on the Los Angles-Havana route did so under the US Department of the Treasury's "people-to-people educational travel" category.
The agency, which requires all US-to-Cuba travellers to do so for certain designated reasons, has restricted travel under that category.
"Given the changes in Cuba travel policies, the airline will redeploy these resources to other markets the airline serves where demand continues to be strong," says Alaska's release.
Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines have all either cut Cuba flights or not started the services.
Other carriers, however, have applied to US authorities to take over rights that Frontier and Spirit have returned.
