Japan has allocated 50 new international daytime slot pairs at Tokyo Haneda International airport to nine countries, with the services to start from 29 March 2020.
The pairs will be equally split between Japanese and foreign carriers, with 12 allocated to routes to the USA, eight to China, two to Russia and Australia, and a single daily flight to India, Italy, Turkey, Finland and Scandinavia.
The latter allocation could facilitate a flight between Haneda and Denmark, Sweden or Norway.
Japan's transport ministry adds that the cities served from Haneda will be up to the individual airlines.
Cirium schedules data shows that the allocations will open the way for the first services between Haneda and Russia, India, Italy, Turkey, Finland and one of the Scandanavian countries.
Tokyo has already allocated the slots available to Japanese carriers to All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, with both gaining six flights to the USA, two to China, one flight each to Australia, India and Russia.
ANA has picked up daily slots to Italy, Turkey and Scandinavia, while JAL picks up a daily slot to Finland.
In early August, the US Department of Transportation formalised the award of the 12 Haneda-USA slots to American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines.
